Yakshagana is a very popular theatre art in Karnataka. It is semi-classical in nature and involves music and songs based on Carnatic music and inspired from Ramayana and Mahabharata. Ankiya Nat is most commonly practiced in Assam since the early 16th century which was created and initiated by Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva.  Yakshagana and Ankiya Nat are not recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
